CMM’s 25th anniversary highlights top 25 projects
It is with great joy that we share that the Portuguese Metal Construction Association, CMM, has just launched an impressive book commemorating its 25th anniversary!
This work contains a selection of 25 relevant works of Portuguese engineering from around the world.
VESAM is honored to be part of this exclusive collection with not one, but TWO striking works!
Both projects, Igreja do Bom Deus and Universidade Católica, are proudly positioned on the African continent, specifically in Angola.
This recognition not only showcases the excellence of Portuguese engineering, but also highlights the global impact of our contributions.
A big thank you to the entire VESAM team, whose dedication and experience made these achievements possible.

Bom Deus Church
It is an elliptical dome-shaped structure, measuring 71.7 m in the major axis and 51.7 m in the minor axis. This roof is made up of a set of lattice trusses, of variable height in the direction of the smallest span, braced by a lattice system, which develop in the perpendicular direction. These trellises have a maximum height of 4.3 m and are placed at a height of 23 m on a concrete structure.
It also has a horizontal bracing system at the bottom chord of the main trusses. At the level of the upper chord of these same trusses, there is also a bracing system which follows its curvature.
Catholic University of Luanda
5-storey building whose structure is based on 4 peripheral pillars and a pre-stressed concrete structure that supports the elevator shafts.
Fire protection was applied to the site using sprayed mortar.
