VESAM joins international research program on Additive Manufacturing
VESAM is part of an international consortium that will investigate Additive Manufacturing solutions.
The consortium includes ArcelorMittal, VEKOMA Rides, Huisman Equipment BV, Delft University of Technology of the Netherlands, the University of Coimbra among others.
Additive Manufacturing (AM) of metals is an attractive solution for function-focused manufacturing, where free-form capability enables optimal solutions that minimize material waste, energy consumption and carbon emissions.
VESAM Role
VESAM will be involved in the design process of the structural details to be developed using WAAM, and will play the role of Lead Beneficiary in the Work Package that incorporates the validation of developed solutions, carrying out tests – load and cyclic – and evaluating results, with full-scale models of metallic bridge elements and tubular joints built using WAAM (Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing).
