VESAM will build its longest bridge ever with a span of 140 m
The new road crossing will be installed in the province of Saurimo, in Angola.
In the year 2022, Vesam celebrated 15 years designing and installing steel bridges. In this quick journey, the company built a rich portfolio of more than 100 works of this type, all on the African continent, with a special focus on Angola.
Vesam’s adaptive engineering solutions have made its bridges more cost-effective in contexts of difficult works in remote locations.
Until then, the largest steel bridge built by Vesam was the Cassai bridge with a span of 100 m.
This new crossing in the province of Saurimo will be carried out with a deck based on a continuous beam with a total span of 140 m, divided into 5 sections.
It is a steel structure with a mixed effect of the deck that takes advantage of the collaborating plate and the border beams, thus avoiding the need of formwork of the deck.
For this project, Vesam remains faithful to its constructive principles, that is, without welding on site and using screwed splicing connections of the copper-joint type, to avoid the use of specialized labor.
The work will begin to be installed in April and it should be completed in May.
